AEBA History

Though All European Bangladesh Association – AEBA is a collective organization of expatriate Bangladeshis living in European Union (EU), the journey of it formally started from our lovely motherland Bangladesh through a press conference at the National Press Club, Dhaka on 14th October, 2012. After its inception, through undergoing the organizational processes our first Grand Convention held in Athens on 1st and 2nd December, 2012. Many of us have had the opportunity to be witnesses of the history making event by attending the first Grand Convention of Greece on that day. The main theme of the first Grand Convention in Greece was ‘Unity for Progress’.

At the outset of inviting you in our official website, we would like to pay tribute to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their mother tongue Bangla in the language movement of 1952 and for their red and green flag in the liberation war of 1971. We also pay tribute to the memories of our beloved and deceased Shahidul Alam Manik, who was at the heart of our Athens Convention but he is no more among us. We pray for the departed souls of those misfortune Bangladeshis to be in peace who had a long cherished dream for coming in Europe, who lost their lives in the sea forever before fulfilling their dreams. In recent times, migrant workers of different countries as including Bangladesh are getting buried in the sea(s). In that context, to keep this issue on priority, the main theme of our second Grand Convention (Portugal 2015) was ‘Safe Migration and Humanity’.

This is true that there is no alternative to ‘unity’ whether we speak for community development or advancement of Bangladesh, home or aboard. At the same time here is no equivocation to say that Bangladeshi community in different countries of the world is divided into many groups in the color of political-social-regional. The development of Bangladeshi community is impeded for years after years by this virus of ‘division’ in every corner of the Globe. Thus, ‘integration’ has been interrupted in many times. Though the term ‘integration’ has increased the beauty of monogram of All European Bangladesh Association – AEBA, we had to be deeply strategic from the beginning of our activities to work with the Bangladesh community divided into different segments in countries across the Europe.
